I read some where at the back of a truck " Mera Bharat Mahan" & somthing in our big bazaar ad "India ka naya bazaar,Big bazaar ab Bathinda mein". two words really caught my eye " Bharat & India".
Question came to mind "are they same?,The gutt feeling said no they are not the same,i started thinking
India
If you talk about smaller towns,They are perceieved as Bharat but in my opinion now they are new india.
1.People in smaller towns have become really aspirational, they dont compromise on low quality stuff becase its cheap, instead they will wait & buy good quality stuff.
2.They always eye branded products,Nike, adidas,They want to look good.so if we are thinking that unbranded products do well there, we need to give a thought ( yes they are perceieved to have less money, but its not true completely, yes spending habits are different)
3.They talk about latest fashions, mobiles, trends more than metros because exposure to them is less.
4.Egos are high,if some family/friends have bought something to talk about, they make sure in the minimalistic time, they get products better than them.
Bharat
Percevied to be the language of smaller towns but beleive its the other way arround....
1.Since life in metro is so busy, the people are really valuing traditions, festives, the small town thoughts, relationships they are least exposed to these & busy running for earning day & night & not knwoing who thier neighbour is...!!
2.Yes,They have highest exposure to media, products etc but they prefer to spend like smaller towns ( planned & on products in need than higher end,I am refereing to middle class people in metros not the affluent ones)
I was thinking aloud.....
lot to share in my next blog...
cheers
