Sea

Sea

We were sitting on the seashore on carter road 2 years back when she muttered, “We get so philosophical when we are in front of the sea”.

I looked at her and said, “Yes, you are so right.”

She was so proud at that moment as if she had won a big battle, that calmness on her face that day was so special. She just smiled and again looked at the sea, now more deeply. Cool breeze was flowing just to sooth us; surprisingly we were not able to hear the chaos in that lane and were so immersed in looking at the divine sea.

Being a Pisces (sign- Fish), I always get moved by water, I just love sea, I can look into the sea for hours without saying a single word . When I came to Mumbai, I used to go to bandstand in the morning and read books while sea was giving me company. It was so beautiful at 6.30 – 7 am in the morning all alone near the shore..

I find sea very authoritative, its tone say that I will do whatever I feel like, I will sooth you in the day time and I will be mysterious in the night. Yes, I find sea mysterious at night; I always believe there is something happening inside at the bottom, some conspiracy (you can call it a illusion or something).

On that day, something was special, I don’t know what, we both were silent and yet there was no urge to speak, to convey something, it was like so connected. Then suddenly she said, you know what the difference between soulmate and life partner is.

I said, “No.”

She said “People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.
A true soul mate is probably the most important person you’ll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake.  A soul mate’s purpose is to shake you up.”

Then she went on and on ….and I was smiling at sea what wonder he had done to her that day…..
