Talking to a stranger

It’s the Saturday afternoon and I am waiting for the evening to come so as this heat stop bothering me with its ability.
While surfing the TV channels, I just recalled something, something very strange but true. I recalled an incident when while boarding bus to Bathinda on early Monday morning,

A voice came “You also study at Giani zail singh college of engineering and technology bathinda na” …to my amazed eyes, she responded “ I am in architecture stream and you”….Mechanical was my answer ( with a proud that I will pass out in 4 yrs and you in 5 yrs as course demanded 5 yrs)

Then the bus started, with heavy head on Monday mornings because of separation from home and fear of classes immediate after reaching Bathinda!

With few minutes of silence, suddenly she started “I have observed you, you always go by this bus na”

I said “Yes” (from then I have made it a practice to say yes to everything to a girl, it helps!)

Don’t know what happened, after few normal lines, she spoke

“Mere mummy papa meri shadi ke liye soch rahe hain, par main shadi nahi karna chahati, mera abhi 3rd year hai, 2 saal ke baad I will be architect and I want to work, I have dreams but……” and then she went on sharing and I was listening with full energy…..

And few more incidents like this thought finally, sometimes it is easy to talk/confess to a stranger than family and friends because:

  1. A known Stranger doesn’t hold any expectations from you, so you go on freely.
  2. He/ She is not biased as he/she doesn’t know any background.
  3. He/she provides sense of comfort( not necessarily all, but a known stranger)
  4. When you are venting your heart out, he/she is clueless so no fear if he/she will tell anybody.
  5. You also don’t expect any solution/great response from him/her so you go in a flow.
  6. Have you ever wondered, our journey’s in trains, long hours, unknown people talking so comfortably ( Travel to Punjab sometime in train, they will tell about history & geography of their family and yes not to forget any eligible bachelor daughter for their daughter/son?)
  7. When you are full with emotions, you don’t care the repercussions of sharing.
  8. Sometime you get friend of life while sharing.( I have one friend I have never met him, he is in dubai but the bond we share awesome)
It all happens SOMETIME, so when angry try talking to known stranger! I hope you know “who known stranger is”

Different Emotions & temporariness

It was 4 pm while I was sitting in office thinking about temporariness of everything, yesterday only a earthquake had shattered many lives in sikkim, few days earlier blasts in Mumbai took place killing and Injuring many. So there was nature and well as humans dictating the terms telling me don’t be sure of anything, it may change any moment.
When we are happy or sad, we tend to attribute whatever is happening to us  to some reason, some cause.
I suddenly heard   the  conversations  between  Fear, Love, Sadness, Attitude, Heart and Mind. Though they tried that they are not heard somehow I managed to sneak in.
Love was as usual funky singing the song in the canteen loudly  “ ye reshmi julphen , hye sharbati aankhein”…..he made sure he was heard, everybody was enjoying it, he was teasing sadness who was just sitting in the corner reading the report on blasts. She was introvert from her childhood but yet opportunist to get the attention whenever she required.
While heart was enjoying the song by Love, Mind was just busy in analyzing don’t know what, he was pretending that he is doing something genius and would make difference to rest of people sitting around.
Attitude and fear had gone to take some snacks for all of them, they all were part of a group, really pulling each other’s leg always showing the importance but not meaning it.
Fear was the smartest person  among  them, he knew when to speak and when to be silent.
One fine day, when they all were drunk, attitude thought of playing a game with all of them,he made teams, Fear with sadness( sady was too attractive for fear!!, saat janam saath rehne ki kasamein khaa lit hi jaise),Love and heart ( amitabh and dhamendra in modern sholday!!) and he had himself paired up with Mind.attitude always had a respect for mind for his skills( Sachin and dravid)

They started playing  game  “ Truth or dare” whereby rotating the bottle depending on its direction one has to choose between truth and dare”
Bottle started spinning, first it stopped at love and heart team.

Truth or Dare, attitude asked!!
“Dare “shouted Heart (Love was clueless why why on the earth Heart did this!)
Attitude said “Go and speard yourself in all conditions, circumstances”
Love was clueless; he had to do what his teammate heart had put him into.

Love started being present in all conditions, for the starting phase he enjoyed the limelight, with time, he started to feel the pinch, since he was not able to be present all the time, he started pretending.
HE HAD TO BE GENINUINE WHEREVER NEEDED AND PRETENDING WHERE THERE  WAS  A NEED.
As a result, Heart was happy when he found love acting true to itself and sad when pretending.
Bottle started rolling again and it was fear and sadness’s turn
Sadness who always was introvert spoke” truth”!
Amazed by this action, Mind really clapped!

Mind said” you both Fear and sadness have to be together ( fear was happy ) and you cannot pretend, but we will have control over you, I appoint Love as observer.
Fear was stronger of the two, he told to sadness” let me do my work, I will make people weak, I wil force them to think again & again, I will control them, sadness who could hear the devilishness of fear was not in agreement, she didn’t like what fear was doing, she decided to play separately.

Next was the turn of Mind and Attitude, being the eldest, they were controlling Love, Heart, fear and sadness so as they can come in phases and turn by turn, their job was to not to allow anybody dominate.

THEY MADE SURE ALL EMOTIONS WERE TEMPORARILY PLAYING THEIR ROLE.

Suddenly I woke up, wondering what these emotions were up to and why did I hear their conversation! But somehow I really loved the characterization of these emotions!
But I had found my answer, Role of each emotion, and TEMPORARINESS.

We,Punjabi's

A relaxed Sunday evening, I am sitting at the same place, on a mattress in the hall with air crossing from the window, Love this time as it doesn’t allow the feeling of monday sinking in as it keeps me occupied with something i love, WRITING.

Last Time, sitting here, I mentioned in my last blog about few people in my life who have been a lifeline, no matter, how less we interact, meet but the only their existence makes me feel great.

Just went to my hometown to attend my cousin’s marriage in Punjab, a colorful, loud place where everybody has his/her own world & they want everybody to address their way, I have been born and brought up there ( with 3 yrs stint in Srinagar, kasmir!!) & have something to share about WE, PUNJABIS.

1. Punjabi’s are very loud, when they talk, no need of loudspeakers, we don’t need man made machines, our voices are enough even if we are not addressing a crowd, we speak in high tone.

2. Punjabi’s are very very emotional, though they try to cover up by high notes in voice and show they are not affected by any emotion, they are.

3. You dare not paying attention to them, they will hit you again and again and make sure they finish whatever intellectual they were saying and still they tell you “Samajh Gaya na”

4. A friend for life, you can blindly trust them, God has not given them thinking capabilities beyond a point so they will never harm if you are friend.

5.We only need parathas for lifetime just three times a day,Morning,Afternoon and Night & in between we can be served anything.

6. We are very uncomfortable eating Chinese food; Punjab has not given noodles the status of food.

7. When we are in love, we give and give and only give. We love so much that sometimes it becomes really mandatory for other person to literally ask for distance.

8. Punjabi’s are often found hurt either by someone’s comments or for not given the proper food at friend’s place.

9.If you are in trouble, tell a Punjabi, they will kill it to the core so bad that the concept of recarnation need to be abolished, but there is one problem, you need to tell them you are in problem.

10.Very expressive, all gussa and pyar you can see on their face clearly.

11. Some of the generally used lines by Punjabis.

Yaar Tu tension na le ( they repeat so many times that the other person really thinks that am I in tension)

Tu mera bhra hai & they hug you (they have so many brothers and sisters around the world!!)

Tu Ruk,Main btata hun( and you wait for your turn till they decide to go for sleep)

12. They have spontaneous raw sense of humor which you will love.

13. You are in the safest arms when they hug you.

14. Generally, They feel suffocated when they are put in intellectual discussions, so inspite of not knowing what the topic is, they make sure they are only heard.

15. We have our own world, either enter and adjust or else you will be kicked way.

16.You make food for them, they will love you forever for anything.

17. Punjabi’s don’t have high urge to earn money, all they need in life is big house, great clothes, a big car to flaunt in the town, same type of food, a beautiful wife/a gabru husband and we will happily die.

18. Punjabis know only two words Yes and No, the in between words to be handled by rest of the world.

19. Generally you will be found on receiving end, all the love and care or the heat, its upto your capabilities what you attract.

20. Very high on family values, You treat their family well, They will forget their own son/daughter and give you the importance which you have not imagined in your life.

I think, its enough now, there is enough in Punjabi’s to fall for.

People with extreme love

We, Punjabi’s.
